ServerZen builds web services on top of industry-accepted standards. Using various Python web frameworks on the backend, web services can provide JSON-RPC, REST, and even SOAP api's.
JSON-RPC is a remote procedure call protocol encoded in JSON. It is a very simple protocol (and very similar to XML-RPC), defining only a handful of data types and commands. JSON-RPC allows for notifications (info sent to the server that does not require a response) and for multiple calls to be sent to the server which may be answered out of order.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON-RPC
Representational State Transfer (REST) is a style of software architecture for distributed systems such as the World Wide Web. REST has emerged as a predominant Web service design model.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Representational_state_transfer
SOAP, originally defined as Simple Object Access Protocol, is a protocol specification for exchanging structured information in the implementation of Web Services in computer networks. It relies on Extensible Markup Language (XML) for its message format, and usually relies on other Application Layer protocols, most notably Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), for message negotiation and transmission.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SOAP
